This is modern slavery!!! How many employers force these poor people to work in harsh conditions, holding their passports and knowing they will never have enough money to pay their return tickets!!!
Many are paid in Rufiyaa and can’t even send money to their families because nobody can provide them with foreign currency unless they pay above market rates on the black market.
Really sad situation but do the authorities actually care as long as Maldives resort owners rich businessmen & politicians are prospering?
Maldives and the people or local here are IDIOT!!! and so STUPID!!! all of them.. the Government don’t care what is happening to the expatriate! No Human Rights at all and the cost of living of the workers too… Very Stupid!!! Feel Pity to this nation and to their people…
